Charsetlint is a diagnostic tool that accepts a URL and reports the character encoding declared in the HTTP Content-Type header, a byte-order mark, and the <meta charset> HTML tag. It identifies contradictions and potential mojibake causes. The service is provided as-is, with no uptime guarantee, SLA, or support commitment.
No payment processor is connected. Charsetlint cannot accept real payments today. Any checkout or subscription form on the site is a demonstration only. No customer data, payment details, or billing information is collected or stored.
The service is offered in two tiers:
Pro pricing and features are not yet final. When the Pro tier launches, these terms will be updated with the confirmed price, billing cycle, and feature set.
Once payment processing is operational, if a subscription charge fails (card declined, expired, insufficient funds), the payment processor will retry the charge up to three times over a 7-day grace period. If all retries fail, access to Pro features will be suspended until the payment succeeds. After 30 days of non-payment, the account will be downgraded to Free and any stored Pro data (check history, API keys) will be deleted.
Subscribers may cancel at any time. Access to Pro features continues until the end of the current paid billing period. No partial refunds are given for cancellation mid-cycle.
Because the Pro tier is not yet available, no refunds can be issued — no money has been collected. Once the Pro tier launches, refunds for billing errors or duplicate charges will be handled on a case-by-case basis. This section will be updated with a formal refund policy before the first paying customer is onboarded.
Stated prices do not include taxes. Any applicable sales tax, VAT, or similar charges will be added at checkout based on the billing address provided. Customers are responsible for all applicable taxes.

The diagnostic results provided by Charsetlint are informational and may be incomplete or incorrect. The service makes no representation that the reported encoding declarations are accurate or that the analysis covers all possible encoding-related issues. The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of Charsetlint shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to the use of the service.
The Charsetlint name, logo, and visual design are owned by the operator. The diagnostic reports produced by the service are factual outputs and are not copyrighted. You may use, share, and reproduce diagnostic results freely.
You may not use the service to probe internal or private network infrastructure unless you own or have explicit permission to test that infrastructure. The service operator reserves the right to block or rate-limit any user or IP that violates these terms.
The operator may update these terms at any time. The "Last updated" date will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
No governing law or jurisdiction has been designated because no legal entity has been registered. Once a jurisdiction is established, these terms will be updated.
